Feng grew up in Jiangsu, China. He earned his B.S. in Biological Sciences and M.S. in Cell Biology from Shenyang Agricultural University. He then completed his Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the Institute of Crop Sciences, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS). During his doctoral studies, he employed integrated approaches from genetics, molecular biology, and bioinformatics to investigate the regulatory mechanisms underlying organ development related to plant architecture and panicle morphology, as well as the molecular basis of important agronomic traits in rice. Subsequently, he worked as an Assistant Professor at the Institute of Vegetables and Flowers, CAAS, where he studied the transcriptional and epigenetic regulation of vegetable graft healing.
Feng is interested in plant immunity and hopes to breed disease-resistant crop varieties in the future. Outside of work, he enjoys gardening, cooking, and taking walks.
